Free vibrations of laminated symmetric angle-ply annular circular plates consisting of specially orthotropic material is studied using spline function approximation. Love’s first approximation theory is applied to derive the equations of motion. A system of coupled differential equations in terms of longitudinal, circumferential and transverse displacement functions is obtained by assuming the solution in separable form. These functions are approximated by Bickley-type splines of suitable order. A generalized eigenvalue problem is obtained by applying a point collocation technique with clamped-clamped (C-C) and simply supported (S-S) boundary conditions, from which the values of a frequency parameter and corresponding mode shapes of vibration for specific values of circumferential mode number , radii ratio , angle-ply, and number of layers are obtained. |
