Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of two phase thermosyphon has been considered in the present study, under steady state conditions using ANSYS-CFX software. In wickless heat pipe or a thermosyphon, latent heat of vaporization and latent heat of condensation are mainly responsible for very high rate of heat transfer. CFD analysis was carried out to predict the overall temperature distribution. CFD results were used to calculate the effective overall thermal resistance of thermosyphon for three different heat inputs. The overall thermal resistance was found to decrease with increase in heat input. The CFD predicted temperatures at various sections of thermosyphon were found to be in good agreement with the experimental results. |
