The objective of this work is to apply on the electromyographic signals (EMG) a new compression approach. The originality of this algorithm, that improves the compression ratio of the EMG signals, compared to Modified Algorithm of Decomposition (MAD),is the association of the Discrete Wavelet Packet Transform (DWPT) with the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT). Indeed, the compression algorithms are intended principally to increase the compression ratio while maintaining the reconstructed signalquality. The results obtained by this method are interesting with regard to evaluation criteria of compression.
