Reliability is the main characteristic to evaluate the performance of WAN's. The devices used in the network and their availability in the market make the network to give services without interruptions. Redundant network components are installed for continuous functioning of network and to reduce the service interruptions. A designer has to consider the economic views of the organization in designing a system with high reliability. To optimize the number of redundant components in WAN environment cost and material resources are utilized for optimum use and for maximum reliability. Though the component reliabilities at various stages of the system are estimated, reliabilities of the server and routers are assumed to be reliable in nature but the circuit continuously changes due to active redundancy and components follow stochastic distributions. A software package is developed with stochastic redundancy technique for “Reliability Optimization using Monte-Carlo simulation”. |
